Fascinating to gawkers like ourselves, but of little solace to his screwed investors, the much ballyhooed auction of Bernie Madoff’s jewelry and personal possessions, brought about a million dollars at a New York City auction on Saturday. Two pairs of Ruth Madoff’s diamond earrings sold for $70K each, much to the delight of the auctioneers who had placed pre-auction values on them of $9,800 and $21,400, respectively.
